The Collaboratory: a makerspace The Hillsboro Public Library’s Collaboratory is a space for people of all abilities to explore the possibility of: making art, making science, making crafts, making anything! Collaboratory Mission, Conduct, and Operations While families are welcome to explore the space, the Collaboratory is for patrons age 10 and up . Free Tutoring & Resume Help for Anyone with a WCCLS library card The Beaverton City Library offers trained volunteer Homework Helpers ( http://bit.ly/wcclshomework ) on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. We do recommend that students call the Teen Desk at 503.350.4001 to check ahead for availability. Additionally , through the Washington County Cooperative Library Services, we also offer Brainfuse , a free live tutoring service ( http://bit.ly/wcclshelpnow ). LIVE online tutoring help from 1 to 10pm daily: Simply select your grade and subject and chat live with someone to get homework help. Writing Lab : Submit papers and get writing feedback (generally) within 24 hours. SkillSurfer: This resource provides access to study materials including practice tests, flashcards and test prep materials . This includes AP courses, and the SAT/ ACT! Excellent Events in our Area Author William Ritter will visit the Sunset High Media Center to tell teens about his writing process and how his bestselling mystery series Jackaby came to be. William Ritter is an Oregon educator and author. Copies of Jackaby are available for free in September from the Cedar Mill Library for those committed to attending the program on Oct. 11th. Parallel Worlds Writing Contest Student submissions starting October 1. Library Events Author Sonia Nazario Sonia Nazario to Speak at Southridge HS , Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of Enrique's Journey/La travesÃa de Enrique, will visit Beaverton. Sonia will speak with staff and community partners about her book, the obstacles that immigrant and first-generation Latino students face, and their stories of determination.
