WHS Library, Chrome, and Canvas Corner

Digital Citizenship tip of the week:   With our reliance on supporting claims with research and data, more than ever students need to be aware of how copyright works.  Having a conversation about how to use and cite resources from the internet, explaining what fair use means, and understanding why it matters will help them in their academic future to live in a digital world safely and respectfully.  Here are some tips that you can discuss with your student: http://bit.ly/2hdl46E

Chromebooks:  Though we generally shut off our Chromebooks by closing the lid, over the weekend your student may want to try powering the device down completely by using the power button located on the right side of the device.  A complete power down will allow the device to update fixes for program glitches that can occur.

eAccess Library Cards:  This week over 400 students received Washington County online library cards during their Community class. While there are approximately 300 more to come, students who completed their application and received their cards can use them over the long weekend to access free resources from the library, including two online eReader programs available on their Chromebooks or other electronic devices.  Have them check out this how-to page--http://bit.ly/2hf81zv--which walks them step-by-step through how to log into their accounts and get reading!
