Research-based Browsers

Google is a great browser, and we use it all the time.  But when researching a paper topic, sometimes the results are confusing, irrelevant, or take us off the academic course.  Try these two search engines:

If you can wait for a few moments (and I really mean generally 30 minutes or less) you can ask a librarian to help you find materials for your research project at https://answerland.org/

Some helpful information about Answerland:
·Answerland librarians can help students find resources such as websites, magazine articles, and books for their assignments and research projects. They try to share their search strategies, too.
·      But, you need to make sure you are asking detailed questions:
o   Not so good: I need help to learn about salmon. (What about salmon are you studying? You’ve probably found some information already, so what specific information do you need?)
o   Better: Hi. I am a middle schooler, and I am studying what has contributed to the decline of the salmon population in Oregon. I believe one factor is warmer river temperatures, but I cannot find a good article to support that argument. Will you please help me find information about that?

·         Answerland will NOT do your homework for you.  Sorry.  If you are having difficulty with an algebra problem, the librarian point you to resources designed to help the student learn the concept.
