Author Sonia Nazario 
Sonia Nazario to Speak at Southridge HS, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of Enrique's Journey/La travesía de Enrique, will visit Beaverton.  Sonia will speak with staff and community partners about her book, the obstacles that immigrant and first-generation Latino students face, and their stories of determination.  Monday Oct. 8th, Southridge High School auditorium, 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Press Release of the event.  



Author William Ritter will visit the Sunset High Media Center to tell teens about his writing process and how his bestselling mystery series Jackaby came to be.  William Ritter is an Oregon educator and author.  Copies of Jackaby are available for free in September from the Cedar Mill Library for those committed to attending the program on Oct. 11th.  


Parallel Worlds Writing Contest
Student submissions starting October 1. All entries must be received at Beaverton City Library Main or the Murray Scholls branch by 8 p.m. on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2018


Digital Citizenship tip of the week:   In the age of the internet, with just a few clicks, almost anything can be downloaded.  But just because we can download something, does that mean we should?  Reminding students of copyright laws, and reminding them of the importance of citing their sources--even on images--will help them to not only become better digital citizens, but succeed in college and beyond.  Click the link for helpful tips on how to discuss plagiarism and copyright with your student:  http://bit.ly/copyright18
